Diwali


                                            Diwali is the ‘festival of lights’. It is also called

                                            Deepawali.  People  clean  their  houses  before

                                            Diwali. They decorate their houses with light and

                                            earthern  lamps  called  diyas                   .  They  pray  to

                                            Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha. They wear

            new clothes and distribute sweets on this day. Children let off crackers.


            Holi


            Holi is called the ‘festival of colours’. It marks

            the  beginning  of  spring  season.  On  the

            occasion  of  Holi,  people  visit  the  houses  of

            their relatives and friends. Children enjoy a lot

            while playing with colours.


                                            Christmas

                                            We  celebrate  Christmas                   on  25th  December

                                            every year. It is the birthday of Jesus Christ. We

                                            decorate Christmas tree and eat cake. We give

                                            gifts to each other. We go to the church to pray.

                                            Santa Claus brings gifts for children. We wish

                                            each other ‘Merry Christmas’!

            Gurpurab


            Gurpurab  is  an  important  festival  of  Sikhs.

            They  celebrate  the  birthday  of  the  first  Sikh

            guru, Guru Nanak on this day.

            They go to Gurudwara to pray. They eat food

            from a common kitchen called langar                        .
