Northern Mountains
India has a vast and high mountain range in the north and northeast
called the Himalayas. The word Himalaya means “home of snow”
because many of its peaks are covered with snow all year round.
These mountains form a curved shape, stretching from Jammu and
Kashmir in the northwest all the way to Arunachal Pradesh in the
east. After that, the mountains bend towards the south and become
the North-Eastern Hills, which are smaller and not as high as the
main Himalayan peaks.
