Location
India, our country, is unique for its physical and cultural diversity. It lies

in the southern part of Asia and occupies a central position in South
Asia. The southern part of India is a peninsula. It has the Bay of Bengal

to its east, the Arabian Sea to its west and the Indian Ocean to its south.
India is the only country in the world that has an ocean named after it —

the Indian Ocean. The Great
Himalayan range forms

India’s boundary in the north.
The Andaman and Nicobar
Islands in the Bay of Bengal

and the Lakshadweep Islands
in the Arabian Sea are parts of

India. Kanyakumari is the
southernmost point of the

Indian mainland. The
southernmost tip of India is

Indira Point (formerly known
as Pygmation Point), which is
a part of the Great Nicobar

Island.
