Memory chips are one of the important components of computer
hardware. There are two types of memory chips present on the
motherboard – RAM and ROM . This component of the CPU stores data
and information permanently or temporarily while working on the
computer.

The disk drives in a computer are the devices that let you store and
retrieve data and applications on and from storage devices such as the
hard disk CD and DVD.

Ports are used to plug various in devices such as the mouse, keyboard or
printer to the computer system. These days, most of the devices are

Output Devices

Output devices are used to display the result of the processed data and instructions.

Now let us learn about some output devices.

Monitor displays the result or output as a soft copy .

Printer is used to print text or pictures on paper i.e., a printed copy,

which is also called a printout or hard copy .

Speakers are used to listen to music, voice and sound on a computer.

A headphone is used to listen to music and sound without disturbing
others as they are worn by an individual. But wearing them for a long
time can affect your hearing power and cause damage to your ears.

A plotter is used to print big sketches, diagrams and maps on long
sheets of paper. They are used by engineers, architects, scientists and
designers.

A projector projects or displays data of computer screen on a large
screen or surface for audience.
