When the glaciers melt, rivers are formed. Rivers flow between the

mountains and form plains with the soil they brought down the mountain.

Land between two hills is called a valley.

Rivers ultimately fall into seas. Sources of water are : rivers, rain, springs,

            wells, ponds, lakes, etc.

WATER CYCLE AND SOURCES OF WATER

Rain fall on the ground and from there it reaches through drains and rivers to

the seas. It gets evaporated from land and again falls as rain. When it rains,

            water flows into a lake.

Rainwater falls on the ground. Water

goes under the ground. There are rocks

under the surface. Water flows through
these rocks and reaches to the wells in

the villages. This water is, then, lifted

into a large tank. It flows from the tank

            into taps through pipes.

Our Earth is a wonderful planet. This is the only place where life is possible. It

is because air and water are present only on this planet. These two things
are very important for life. We should take proper care of our Earth.

                                          MOVEMENTS OF THE EARTH

Our Earth rotates on its axis. It takes 24 hours to complete one rotation on its

axis. It is termed as one day. It completes one revolution around the Sun in

365 day and 6 hours. This is called one year. Days and nights are caused due

to the rotation of the Earth on its axis. Seasons are caused by the revolution

of the Earth around the Sun. The Earth also has a satellite called the moon

            which rotates around it.
