Birds
Birds are animals which can fly. They lay
eggs and live in nests. Can you name the
bird that is green in colour and has a red
beaks? Yes, it is a parakeet. Pigeons,
sparrows and peacocks are common
birds of India. A bird sanctuary is a place
where you can find different birds.
Endangered Animals
Many animals living on Earth today are
endangered, which means they are at risk
of becoming extinct (dying out) on Earth.
Dinosaurs are extinct on Earth. Endangered
animals include tigers, rhinoceroses,
turtles, and many more. Their numbers
have already been greatly reduced and only
a few now live in the wild. The main reason is that people are destroying animals'
habitats, such as rainforests to replace them with farmlands or human
settlements. As such, it leaves less room for wild animals, who may face a
shortage of food or places to raise their young ones. This causes their number to
drop. Many wild animals are also hunted by humans, for example, for their fur or
horns. Others are killed by pollution and global warming, which changes the
climate and affects animals' survival rates.
