Science The world around us is made of matter, which includes everything we see
                     Bytes

Testimony and use daily like the staircase, air, water, food, clothes, books, trees, and
toys. Matter is anything that has mass and occupies space. Most things
                Everything you see
around you—air, water, around us are not made of just one substance; they are made up of two or
soil, food, and even your more substances mixed together, called mixtures . For example, a fruit salad
body— is made of ma er. is a mixture of different fruits, and soil is made of tiny particles of different
              Scien sts es mate that
more than 118 combine materials. Understanding matter and how different substances come
in countless ways to form together helps us learn about mixtures and the different forms of matter,
              all known materials on
Earth. such as solids, liquids, and gases that exist in our everyday life.

                                     WHAT ARE MIXTURES?

When two or more substances are mixed together, and each keeps its own
properties without changing chemically, it is called a mixture . The individual
substances in the mixture are called components . Since the parts do not
react chemically, they maintain their original qualities. For example, in a

sprout salad made with green gram, chickpeas, onion, and tomato, you can
clearly see each part because the components are separate and visible. Such
mixtures, where you can see the different parts with your eyes, are called
